About the Author

Hello everyone! My name is Elina Basaraba, the founder of Fitnello Fitness. I began my journey in health and fitness when I was 21 years old. Prior to that, I was a typical teenager who ate fast food for lunch, Starbucks frappes for midday "pick me ups", and a bowl of ice cream to finish off my day. I knew nothing about healthy eating or working out, and quite frankly, did not even care. I lived impulsively in the moment like most teenagers do, not thinking about how these unhealthy habits would affect me in the long run.

During the fall of 2009, something very significant happened to me. That semester in college, a nutrition and weightlifting course sparked within me an interest in a healthy lifestyle. This spark led me to begin my first blog titled "More Healthier You", where I would document the beginning of my journey on healthy eating and working out.

After finding out in December 2009 that I was pregnant with my first child, my interest in health further skyrocketed because of one simple realization; I was no longer eating for myself, but for my baby as well. Being newlywed, expecting, college students, my husband and I had a tight budget. In spite of that, I made the conscious choice to prioritize high-quality, organic ingredients within our household.

Now, with over a decade of experience under my belt, I have created one-hundred recipes to help anyone achieve their fitness goals!
